RECENT VISITORS

10 April 2019: A 17-person delegation headed by Rogelio V. Cuyno, UP Open University Faculty and Former UP Chancellor, the Philippines visited WorldVeg HQ. The delegates are from the Philippine Association of Research Managers, Inc. (PHILARM).

20 April 2019: A 55-person delegation led by Wei-Jao Chen, former President of National Taiwan University (NTU) from NTU Alumni Association Cultural Foundation visited WorldVeg HQ.

25 April 2019: A group of 28 international students from 10 countries (Belize, Cambodia, El Salvador, Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Honduras, Japan, Kingdom of Eswatini, Panama, Taiwan, and Tuvalu) visited WorldVeg HQ. They were led by Leknath Kafle, Assistant Professor from the Department of Tropical Agricultural and International Cooperation, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST).

29 April 2019: Michael Dingkuhn (center), Senior Research Scientist (Crop ecophysiology — Crop modeling — Genotype-phenotype relationships) from CIRAD – Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement, Montpellier, France visited WorldVeg HQ. He shared a presentation on Stress Adaptation, Memory, Plasticity: Strategic Thoughts on Improving Crops’ Coping Ability.

9 May 2019: Sushil Solomon, Vice Chancellor, Har Gyan Prakash, Director Research, and D.P. Singh, Joint Director Research, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, India, visited WorldVeg HQ and joined  the ISHS Tomato Disease Symposium participants for a field tour at the Center.

21 May 2019: Kenji Sakurai (right), Associate Professor from the Department of Biological Production, Akita Prefectural University, Japan accompanied by Professor Yu Zhu (center) from Department of Horticulture, National Ilan University, Taiwan visited WorldVeg HQ. Dr. Sakurai is currently doing an analysis of the genetic relationship of eggplant.

31 May 2019: 42 students from the Department of Life Science, National Taitung University, Taiwan visited WorldVeg HQ.

19 April 2019: 23 trainees from 20 Countries (including Belize, Brazil, Fiji, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Kingdom of Eswatini, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Philippines, Russia, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tuvalu, and Vietnam) visited WorldVeg HQ. They participated in the “Workshop on Agricultural Biodiversity Promotion” organized by the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), Taiwan. They were accompanied by 5 staff from ICDF’s International Education and Training Department.

26 April 2019: 30 international undergraduate students and master’s students from Honduras, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, Malaysia, Nicaragua, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Vietnam led by Chifumi Takagi, Assistant Professor of International Master Program of Agriculture of National Chung-Hsing University visited WorldVeg HQ.

8 May 2019: Anand Kumar Singh (right), Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, India visited WorldVeg HQ and stopped by the genebank for a chat with Genebank Manager Maarten van Zonneveld.

15-18 May 2019: The Da-Ai TV crew led by Hong-li Chen filming a TV program “Da-Ai Record” at WorldVeg HQ. The program length regarding the Center is about 15-20 minutes and includes interviews with WorldVeg scientists, APSA-WorldVeg workshop activities, genebank (storage introduction and seed processing activities), insectary, current WorldVeg research activities and recreation time — soccer match after work.

20 May 2019: Kyung-Tae Oh, President of Institute of Planning and Evaluation for Technology in Food, Agriculture and Forestry (iPET); Young-Joon Han, Director of Golden Seed Project, iPET; and Si-Hyeung Yi, Senior Researcher of Project planning Office iPET, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Korea visited WorldVeg HQ.

30 May 2019: 27 participants of the FFTC-NPUST-TARI-WorldVeg International Symposium on “Smart Agriculture for Environmentally and Consumer Friendly Food production” at NPUST, Pingtung, Taiwan visited WorldVeg HQ.
