Eric Shen, Principal Research Assistant in the WorldVeg genebank, oversees the multiplication of wild relatives of eggplant collected with the support of Crop Wild Relatives. Aside from enriching the WorldVeg genebank, seed collected from these wild rels will soon be — under the FAO plant treaty — available to the international community.
