John Nzungize (Rwanda) joined Worldveg as Vegetable Systems Scientist and Country Manager – Mali in October 2022. Dr. Nzungize brings more than 20 years of experience in Leadership and management of different levels within Research for Development in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has a Proven ability to establish and manage partnerships with international institutions.
Prior to joining World Vegetable Center, Dr. Nzungize worked as a multi-country project manager at SN. Before this position, Dr. Nzungize worked as senior scientist/ Project Manager and Technology Uptake Specialist at ICRISAT Mali, before that Dr. Nzungize worked as Principal Research Fellow in Crop Production and Germplasm Conservation, Rwanda Agriculture Board. Before this position, he worked as Plant Breeder and Plant Protectionist especially for common beans.
Dr. Nzungize holds a PhD in Agricultural Sciences (Plant Breeding) from the University of Liege Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, Belgium. He has an Msc degree in plant breeding from the Gembloux Agricultural University (Faculté Universitaire des Sciences Agronomiques de Gembloux), Gembloux, Belgium: 2005.
