WorldVeg Annual Report 2023 !

Welcome to our 2023 annual report, truly a bumper edition as befits our 50th anniversary. The year was full of events and reflections with our partners around the world, and that gave us all phenomenal momentum. We present our revised priorities for research and action, progress made with upgrading our genebank in Tanzania and others across Africa, amongst much else. There are encouraging results across the board, updates from our seed consortiums in Asia and Africa, and introductions to new projects as well as updates and stories from our three large projects in Africa – the Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative, Veggies for Planet & People, and SafeVeg. Very good progress is reported in all of these, that focus on simultaneously tackling demand and supply dimensions in the vegetable sector. There is an overview of our work on urban food systems, with WorldVeg leading or being involved in initiatives in 30 cities, followed by numbers and news from the regions that share what farmers and other value chain actors have experienced, from Benin, Cambodia, Eswatini, Ethiopia, India, Mali, Sudan, Tanzania – all over the world… And we end as always with an overview of our publications, alongside our staff diversity, communications statistics, finances, and of course, acknowledgement of the continuing support from our board of directors and many funders. We hope that you will enjoy this special Golden Jubilee year edition. Together, we have done so much over the past 50 years. And together, we will surely achieve so much more in the years to come.
