Mwasilwa Ambali
Lead Specialist - Technology Scaling
West and Central Africa - Coastal & Humid Regions
Mwasilwa Ambali joined the World Vegetable Center - Coastal and Humid Regions office in Benin in November 2021 as Lead Specialist - Technology Scaling (CIM Expert). He studied in Belgium as a Bioengineer with a specialization in economics and rural development. Mwasilwa has spent more than 10 years in the development sector on the extension of new technologies and has worked in more than 10 African countries. Among other activities, he contributed to the introduction of hybrid maize in Burundi and supported the adoption of micro-dosing techniques among farmers in Mali and Senegal.
"The reason I joined WorldVeg was because I wanted to contribute to making the innovations produced as accessible as possible to farmers in general and especially to smallholders,” Mwasilwa said. “I also wanted to help researchers have a better understanding of the needs of the market so that they can take them into account in the development of innovations."
