Marwan Benali joined the World Vegetable Center in January 2019 to work within the Center's Enabling Impact Flagship. Prior to joining WorldVeg, Marwan worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher within the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of the University of Goettingen (Germany). He also received his PhD from the "PhD Program for Agricultural Sciences (PAG) – Research Training Group 1666: Transformation of Global Agri-Food Systems" at the University of Goettingen, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). His dissertation focused on the effects of export vegetable supply chains on small producers' labor allocation and poverty in Tanzania. Previously, he worked as a consultant within the Trade and Markets Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome (Italy).
