Malick Niango Ba (Burkina Faso) joined the Center in August 2022 as Regional Director for West and Central Africa, based in Cotonou, Benin. Prior to WorldVeg, Dr. Ba worked from 2013 to 2022 at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and from 2002 to 2012 at the Burkina Faso National Agricultural and Environmental Research Institute (INERA). He had different visiting/scholarship positions in different US universities (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Purdue University, Michigan State University). He has accumulated nearly 20 years research on insect pests of legumes and cereals in West Africa. He has also held managerial roles for 13 years; first as head of INERA’s research program on Legume grains and as ICRISAT Niger country representative/ Deputy regional director for ICRISAT West and Central Africa region. Dr. Ba is a member of the Entomological Society of America, the International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences, the African Association of Insect Scientist, and the International Organization of Biological Control. He has to date published more than 60 papers in peer review journals and co-authored a dozen of book chapters and manuals.
