Biography

Stephen Othim is an accomplished agricultural
entomologist with extensive experience in crop
protection, pest management, and capacity building. Prior to joining WorldVeg, he was a
Technical Consultant for COLEAD, where he developed and implemented numerous training
modules on Pest Risk Analysis, Export certification, Phytosanitary inspection, and Crop
production. He also served as a consultant for CABI, where he designed innovative pest control
solutions and conducted significant research on natural enemies of the invasive papaya
mealybug. As the former CEO of Farmtrack Consulting Ltd, he coordinated R&D projects
including screening for EPFs against several invasive and economically important pests and
formulation and testing of various pheromone-based plant protection products. In addition, he
trained thousands of farmers on integrated pest management. Stephen holds a PhD in
Agricultural Entomology and has contributed to numerous scientific publications in his field. He
joined WorldVeg in July 2024 as a Postdoctoral scientist in Entomology researching on pest
management for vegetable crops focusing on IPM.
