Fekadu Dinssa

Scientist – Seed Systems and Scaling

Fekadu Fufa Dinssa worked at the World Vegetable Center from 2008 to 2010 and rejoined the organization in December 2012.

Fekadu holds a PhD in Agricultural Resources and Environment with a specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetics, an MSc in Plant Breeding, and a BSc in Plant Sciences. His professional experience includes serving as Vegetable Breeder and Seed Systems Leader at the World Vegetable Center.

He has also worked at ICARDA, the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR), and the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute (EBI) as a breeder-geneticist, contributing at both technical and research program management levels.

His research and development activities focus on participatory plant breeding, particularly in neglected and underutilized crop species, as well as seed systems. Fekadu has led numerous research and development projects and has extensive experience across diverse crops, farming systems, and agro-ecologies in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. He has authored and co-authored more than forty journal articles and fifteen proceedings.
