Mwasilwa Ambali is a Specialist in Vegetable Variety Scaling at the World Vegetable Center, with over 15 years of experience spanning agricultural research, private-sector engagement, and international development across Africa. This broad background enables him to bridge scientific innovation with market realities and development objectives, supporting the design and scaling of market-driven vegetable interventions and stronger local seed systems.

He coordinates the multi-stakeholder platform Africa Vegetable Breeding Consortium (AVBC), bringing together WorldVeg researchers, the African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA), and African seed companies to translate breeding innovations into commercially viable and farmer-accessible solutions. His work integrates market intelligence, capacity strengthening, and policy engagement to ensure that improved genetics reach farmers at scale.

Through his leadership, WorldVeg contributes to more resilient vegetable value chains, increased private-sector participation, and improved access to quality seed for smallholder farmers, supporting income generation, improved nutrition, and sustainable food systems across Africa.
