Dan da Silva (Switzerland and Nigeria) joined the World Vegetable Center in February 2019 to work with the Sustainable Value Chains Flagship at WorldVeg Eastern and Southern Africa in Arusha, Tanzania. For his master’s degree on smallholder farmers’ income and risk management strategies, he conducted field work in Southwestern Nigeria. Dan has worked mostly on value chain and market systems development as well as business development services for smallholder farmers and small- and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. He has strong competencies in monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL), as well as strategy and organizational development. He has considerable experience fostering farmers’ and entrepreneurs’ organizations and his competencies in MEAL are complemented by a keen interest in research and institutional economics.
