Sharp, mustard-flavored tender leaves and shoots are eaten boiled or in stews.

Beta-carotene: high; vitamin E: low; folic acid: high; ascorbic acid: extremely high; calcium: high; iron: medium; protein: 4.0%. Leaves possess antioxidative and antiinflammatory
properties, and contain oxalic acid (ca. 0.01%).
