The work of AVRDC in the region began as a Thailand Outreach Program in 1982. The Asian Regional Center was established in 1992 and operates in close collaboration with Kasetsart University in Bangkok with the support of the Royal Thai Government. Its work has expanded to become the focal point for regional research and training and for the Center’s work with the People’s Republic of China. The Asian Regional Center addresses vegetable research and development in East and Southeast Asia to improve nutrition and reduce poverty through hands-on training based on the latest research of AVRDC scientists.
