G2P-SOL partner the Polytechnic University of Valencia begins DNA sequencing work

Researchers from the Polytechnic University of Valencia are among the 19 partners from 12 countries participating in G2P-SOL, a European project to improve the production of potato, eggplant, tomato and pepper through the mass sequencing of plant DNA. The World Vegetable Center is a partner in this initiative. For the next five years, researchers will extract DNA, sequence the data, analyze it with special software and powerful computer servers, and use it to build a comprehensive database vegetable breeders can consult, which will help to promote significant advances in the genetic improvement of these crops.

G2P-SOL, part of the Horizon 2020 initiative, is coordinated by the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development of Italy.
