Avinashilingam University for Women
The Avinashilingam University for Women (AUW) is a partner in AVRDC's Bitter Gourd Project. AUW nutritionists and socioeconomists have conducted surveys to assess the production, consumption, and marketing of bitter gourd in India, and are organizing human studies to measure the biochemical properties of bitter gourd compounds in controlling blood glucose levels for type 2 diabetics.
<b>Sri Avinashilingam Home Science College for Women</b> in Coimbatore, India was established in 1957 with 45 students. Now known as the the Avinashilingam University for Women, it is the largest institution in the country for imparting Home Science education at all levels.
